Additional Information:  This plant was identified as Stelis ferax, but Carl Luer indicated in a later publication that S. ferax is a synonym of S. tridentata. This plant is more caespitose than the drawings of S. tridentata and freely produces seed capsules.  Endemic in northernmost Ecuador at altitudes of around 7,270 feet (2,400 m).
