Spectaculum (spek-TAK-you-lum) is a unispecific genus characterized by the long-repent habit, coriaceous, elliptical leaves and a loose, elongating inflorescence of successive and simultaneous flowers.  The sepals are connected with the lateral sepals broadly expanded without tails.  The petals are pointed.  The lip simple and oblong.
