Orbis (OR-biss) is a genus of a single species characterized by a large plant with a sessile leaf; terminal raceme; suborbicular flowers with a deeply inflated synsepal; a suborbicular lip; a terete, wingless, and footless column with an apical anther and stigma.  Because of the small aperture of the orange flower, as well as the small aperture of the spherical lip, the flowers are probably pollinated by a hummingbird.  This combination of features is not accommodated in any other pleurothallid genus.
