Elongatia (eh-long-GAH-tee-ah) is new genus with species that used to belong to Pleurothallis subgenus Elongatia.  The species of this genus usually have well-developed ramicauls.  The leaves have either a leaf-stalk or not (basis for the two sections).  The distinguishing features that set this genus apart from all other pleurothallids are found in the basically similar, large to very large flowers.
