Named in honor of Dr. and Sra. Oscar Robledo, of Medellín, Colombia, who have successfully maintained this species in cultivation since its discovery.

Additional Information:  Reportedly abundant in a remote area of the Western Cordillera of Colombia where it is endemic at altitudes of 6,560 feet (2,000 m) to 7,220 feet (2,200 m).
