Dracula platycrater  (Rchb.f.) Luer 

From the Greek platys, "broad" and krater, "a bowl", in reference to the shape of the epichile.  Reichenbach probably intended to contrast the flat or convex epichile with the concave epichile of the other related species with which he was familiar.

Additional Information:  Widely distributed in the moist forests of the Western and the Central Cordillera of Colombia but found infrequently at altitudes from 4,920 feet (1,500 m) to 7,540 feet (2,300 m).
