Named for Erick Olmos of Cerro Punta, Chiriquí, Panama, who collected this species.

Additional Information:  Apparently endemic to the forests of Bocas del Toro, the Pacific-facing slopes of western Panama at altitudes of 5,900 feet (1,800 m) to 6,560 feet (2,000 m).
