The genus Crocodeilanthe (krah-koe-dye-LAN-thay)is a new genus of species that used to belong to the genus Pleurothallis subgenus Crocodeilanthe.  Vegetatively this genus is often characterized by well-developed ramicauls often clad in loose, papery sheaths.  The inforescences emerge from a spathe and are always simultaneously flowered and usually have many flowers. Most species are easy to cultivate, but few are found in collections because of their large size and usually small but numerous flowers that are unattractive until examined closely with a magnifying glass.
