The genus Apoda-Prorepentia (ah-POH-dah proh-ree-PEHN-tee-ah) is a new genus consisting, for the most part, of species that used to belong to the genus Pleurothallis, subgenus Apoda-Prorepentia.  These species are brought together by the unusual habit.  The habit is pendant with pendant leaves.  The flowers are produced from within a spathe, usually large and inflated, at the base of the leaf.  The flowers are often hidden within the spathe.
