AOS Show Trophy - Orchid Digest Trophy

Illinois Orchid Society Show, AOS Members Meeting, April 11, 2002

This display was entered as the Pleurothallid Alliance display to represent the Alliance since we were meeting there.  It had 29 plants representing 9 different genera of pleurothallids that were artistically arranged in a natural forest floor setting in my 42 x 28 x 36 case.  Two foggers added to the effects of this setting being in a cloud forest.  This display won the AOS Show Trophy for the best display in the show out of 56 displays, the Orchid Digest Trophy for the best non-commercial display and the Best of Class trophy for societies.  All but four plants were species.  One of the hybrids, Masdevallia Cassiope 'Alexa' won the trophy for Best of Classes 110-111 (pleurothallids) and Dryadella edwallii won the F.L. Stevenson Award for the best pleurothallid.  The F.L. Stevenson Award is a Mid-America award that is given at their semi-annual meetings.  Also, the judges gave an AOS award of CBR to Lepanthes chorista.
