Acronia matudana  (C.Schweinf.) Luer

Named in honor of Eizi Matuda, collector in Mexico, who first recorded this species.

 

Section:  Macrophyllae-Fasciculatae

 

Additional Information:  Relatively frequent in its wide distribution through the Andes and Central America at altitudes of 2,950 feet (900 m) to 9,350 feet (2,850 m).  Although vegetatively variable, the morphology of the flowers is surprisingly constant.
