Named for Dorothy Lankester, daughter of Charles Lankester, in whose collection this species was cultivated.

Additional Information:  Frequent in the region surrounding the Monteverde Reserve in Costa Rica at altitudes ranging from 4,590 feet (1,400 m) to 4,920 feet (1,500 m).
