Acinopetala livingstoneana  (Rchb.f. & Roezl.) Luer

At the request of Benedict Roezl, Reichenbach named this species in honor of David Livingstone (1813 - 1873), Scottish explorer poppularized at that time through his rescue in Africa by the English explorer Sir Henry Morgan Stanley.

Additional Information:  Severely restricted in its distribution to a narrow strip on the isthmus of Panama where it is getting increasingly difficult to find at around sea level to 330 feet feet (100 m).
